With Athina.
Design and program the sound of a theremin with a microcontroller: The theremin is the world’s first electronic musical instrument and the only instrument you can play in the air with your hands. Clara Rockmore played her first solo concert on it nearly 100 years ago. She worked closely with its inventor, Lev Theremin, to develop this magical instrument. The theremin is used in many famous sci-fi movies and experimental pop music. Duration: 30 min. Registration on sight.

With Adrienn Veres (programmer/tinkerer).
Sonic Pi is free music programming software. No problem if you’ve never programmed before! It’s really easy to instantly create experimental cool sounds and write your first code. In this workshop you will learn the basics. Then you can create electronic sounds at your own pace and continue working on them in your spare time. Whohoo!

• DIY Synthesizer
With Susanne Grunewald (Tinkerer).
A synthesizer (synth for short) is one of the main instruments of electronic music. Melodies and rhythms are created from electrical voltages. In this workshop you will learn the basic functions of the instrument and build your own synth.

Have you heard of the profession of sound engineering? How does the sound from big stages or at small club concerts reach our ears? What do we hear when we stand on a stage? We will introduce you to the job of a sound engineer in Berlin using the ACUD Club as an example.

XOIR is a choral format by Error Music mentor Colin Self. Unlike memorizing sheet music, this vocal workshop focuses on your senses and the shared experience in a group. So explore your voice and your body. And be excited! Colin is in New York during the Error Music Festival, so Yosa Peit will conduct the workshop with Colin on a screen.

STATION 1 of our time travel parcours through electronic music: Here is an overview of great women* who were amongst the first to work with technologies and electronic music. After some of them we named stations of our parcours. But there are many more! On this timeline you will get a first overview of the chronological order in which electronic music and computer technologies emerged and how they are connected. At each festival station, you’ll learn more about the topics on this timeline! Have fun discovering!

STATION 2 of our time travel tour through electronic music: Play a few sounds on the first ever invented electronic musical instrument: the theremin. You play it with your hands in the air! Learn about the basic functions of this magical instrument and start your time travel into electronic music here. Clara Rockmore developed this instrument together with Lev Theremin and was able to play it admirably.

We explain to you through analog programming games what computer commands are and what an algorithm is. Do you know how long computers have been around? • Synthesizer Carousel
STATION 4 of our time travel tour through electronic music: Designed as a collaborative musical instrument, you can explore and play 6 modular synthesizers on this synth carousel. You connect the individual circuits by plugging in cables and immediately hear the sound, without there being a clear right or wrong. A synthesizer is one of the main instruments of electronic music. Melodies and rhythms are created from electrical voltages. Trans pioneer Wendy Carlos developed the first synthesizer with keys: the Moog.

• Music Producer*in
STATION 5 of our time travel tour through electronic music: What is a beat? How does hip-hop legend Missy Elliott produce a track? How are the tracks you hear on TikTok made? When did sounds start being created digitally? Explore the basics of electronically generated music with Ableton’s interactive website. Experiment with beats, melodies, basslines, harmonies, and song structures. You can get started with no prior experience. Ableton Live is software that lets you develop musical ideas, turn them into finished songs, and bring them to the stage: a complete recording studio in your computer!

• Error Music Listening Vol. I
STATION 6 What does Error Music sound like? Error Music is a sound x tech format where girls*, trans*, inter* and non-binary youth from many Berlin districts have worked with great technological and musical inventions since 2020. The groups performed with their own Error Music Show at the club. In discarded car seats on the balcony you can listen to the shows we recorded during our project time at ACUD. You will hear performances by crews from the Schule an der Jungfernheide Spandau, the Interkulturellen Mädchentreff August Reinickendorf, the Schottenburg Steglitz, the Barnim Gymnasium Falkenberg, the Klinke Marzahn, the Nelson Mandela Schule Schöneberg and the Alte Feuerwache Kreuzberg. Thus the participants have become pioneers* of electronic music themselves! Open your ears.
